1. What’s behind the EU Organic logo?

It’s not just a label. The EU Organic logo guarantees strict environmental and animal welfare standards, full traceability, and natural, chemical-free farming from soil to shelf.

2. Does organic really matter for the environment?

Yes. Organic farms protect biodiversity, avoid synthetic inputs, and store more carbon in the soil—around 1.6 tonnes per hectare per year. That’s the real impact in the fight against climate change.

3. How does organic meat taste so different?

Natural diets, slow growth, and time on pasture result in richer flavours, better texture, and exceptional tenderness. It’s not just healthy — it’s gourmet.

4. How does organic certification protect consumers?

Every certified product must meet strict EU standards, undergo annual inspections, and carry full traceability. That means what you see on the label is exactly what you get — no shortcuts.

5. How long does EU Organic meat graze on natural pastures?

Almost! Thanks to Ireland’s mild climate, organic cattle and sheep graze outdoors for more than 220 days a year. That long grazing season delivers meat rich in omega-3, vitamin E, and flavour.

6. What happens when antibiotics aren’t routinely used?

Organic animals rely on prevention: low-stress environments, space to roam, and natural feed. When needed, treatment is administered responsibly by vets. The result? Better animal welfare and less antimicrobial resistance risk.

7. Can organic meat really support small family farms?

Absolutely. Organic systems favour low-density herds and flocks, making them ideal for small-scale, family-run farms. In Ireland, the average organic farm supports traditions passed down through generations.

SUSTAINABILITY & THE EU ORGANIC PROGRAMME

🌍 Why organic farming is better for our planet:

  • Cleaner Soil – No synthetic fertilisers or pesticides. Just natural compost, cover crops, and crop rotation.

  • Carbon Storage – Organic soils trap more CO₂, helping combat climate change.

  • Water Resilience – Organic soils store twice as much water, reducing flood and drought risk.

  • Wildlife Havens – Organic farms host 50% more bees, butterflies, birds and plant species on average.
